Here in Borders I met Brad Tong and his wife. They came from Seattle, Washington to see and be apart of history. Also Marie who is an activist in the Washington DC area for better schools and education joined in the dialogue. On this day I/We felt the love and community of America. Strangers were embracing strangers and sharing hope, recommitting to their ideals and the promise of restored integrity in our government and ourselves. In this bookstore after the parade it was crowded with people sitting at tables, on the floor in corners just talking, of course drinking coffee to warm up but the feelings abound of peace and a sense of purpose too. I didn't see many dry eyes, it was a quiteness in there that was just like the 12 hours I stood out in the cold but warmed by the different hues of people, waiting to just glimpse at the man; the peoples President who united us and call us forward to our greatness and purpose.
