Lee Flat are in Death Valley National Park is just a great place to hike. I was surprised at the vastness of the Joshua tree forest up in that area.  From the flats you can see the ridges of Hunter Mountain and watching the sun coming up in that morning was priceless. When  I traveled down this road it was just graded and good for any type of car or SUV. Now it has been severely washed out and closed by Inyo County transportation department. Just a stop on the travel log. Coming later this week is my hike into Desolation canyon.
